CORPÓREO

The human body through direct carving in marble.

In Corpóreo I explore the human body through direct carving in marble. The figure turns into curves, edges and planes that hold on to the intensity of a gesture or a presence.

The veins and quirks of the stone take part in that search. The tension between the body and the resistance of the material leaves visible both the hand of the carver and the identity of each block.

ECOS

Gesture turned into line, volume and void, between ink and stone.

In Ecos I explore how a gesture becomes line, volume and void. The Indian ink studies and the stone sculptures share a search for form that stays open throughout the process.

On paper, the stroke and the white space suggest movement. In stone, that search takes on weight and depth. Each work develops its own variation, and the drawings keep an independent presence within the series.

DECONSTRUIDOS

Two busts that explore the fragmentation of the body and the construction of identity.

Deconstruidos brings together two busts in which I explore the fragmentation of the body and the construction of identity. Carrara marble and Portuguese pink marble set up a dialogue between reason, emotion and intuition.

The void and the fragments open up a reading of the body as a form in transformation. The relationship between the two pieces is part of that search.

SINUOC

Where architectural structure meets organic form.

Sinuoc explores the meeting point of architectural structure and organic form. Curve, plane and void build a balance between the weight of the stone and the movement it suggests.

Light travels across the surfaces and changes how their depth is perceived. Differences in texture and finish reveal the relationship between the carved volume and the space around it.

EMOCIÓN MUDA

Numbered sculptures whose meaning is left to the viewer.

In Emoción muda (Silent Emotion) I leave the interpretation of each sculpture open. The numbers identify the pieces, while their meaning stays in the hands of whoever looks at them.

I am interested in how a gesture or a presence can awaken different emotions. Each person's gaze adds another reading to the work and extends the encounter with it.
